Escaping it all has never felt so appealing
The stunning view from a plane in the clouds
By Emma Baker, Holsworthy Travel
My clients have certainly made the most of summer 2021, so I wanted to share some feedback from some of my lovely holiday-makers with you this month. This is an insight into their experiences of travelling during pandemic restrictions; all enjoyed a relaxing, positive experience, regardless of the type of break they chose. I’m sure this will be helpful for those who are thinking of travelling and not sure what to opt for, and will no doubt be reassuring for those about to embark on their first holiday in years!
Firstly, I’d like to share an e-mail I received from an amazing family who have just returned from Majorca. They took the opportunity to travel this summer and found the process to be very smooth – and well worth it!
"So we made it - and actually, despite the mayhem of forms, it was really smooth and stress-free. Please assure clients that going on holiday isn’t that extreme and actually the reward is phenomenal - once we took off the world of stress vanished.
“It feels pretty safe out here - hotel seems to be covid-conscious and I think it’s fair to say you’ve got more chance of getting Covid in a supermarket than on a plane or in a hotel.
“I guess after nearly 2 years since many have been on holiday they’ve become hyper anxious over it all, but if double jabbed I’d say crack on and go…”
I was also delighted to hear from clients who have just returned from a break in Jersey; they travelled in 2020 as well, so had the opportunity to compare experiences. They found this year easier than last.
“The holiday was all lovely. The covid restrictions were easier than last time, perhaps due to it not being a new experience. Test results back in 6 hrs, no isolation and Customs - or the lack of it - was easy. The Hotel suits us and is in the country; it is good and also the food. The only trouble is the time goes so quickly, it seems no sooner you get there then it is time to come home.”
Finally, I was contacted this week by some clients who have just returned from a staycation cruise. They enjoyed sailing the Cornish coast and had a fabulous view of Bude – not far from home, but it did them the world of good. They thoroughly enjoyed their break and, once on-board, they felt the stresses of the last 18 months disappear very quickly – great to hear! The Covid testing at the port prior to embarkation was very well organised and the life boat drill when on-board very easy.
I am so pleased that we were able to help these clients, and others, achieve their summer holiday goals in 2021. We are finally seeing a return to travel and are beginning to see an increase in booking enquiries. It is obvious that so many people would love a holiday to look forward to.
