It is well known that regular exercise, as well as improving health can reduce stress and anxiety. Research has shown that dancing and particularly Scottish Country Dancing is one of the best forms of activity for keeping the body mobile and the mind alert, and also boosting one’s social life!
SCD is not exclusive to Scotland. There are numerous classes and groups throughout the UK and the rest of the world; with at least five in this part of Devon. Look on the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society website for more information.
The new season of SCD starts in the autumn and the Yelverton dance group are keen to share their enjoyment. Everyone is welcome so come try it, bring the whole family, ages 8 to 80.
Its inexpensive, the music is lively, you don’t need a partner or special clothes, just soft shoes and your sense of humour, because we laugh a lot. A new beginners class will start in October.
