Iain Grant: I want you to get what you want to get out of this day. We are in an idyllic spot with lots of possible subjects and methods of capturing them. What we actually do will depend a bit on the weather. I’m hoping that in the morning we will be able to get out into the garden to sketch, and gather information for painting back in the Primrose Room in the afternoon. If we are stuck inside I’ll have lots of my reference material from the GH for us to use.
The day will be suitable for beginners and those with more experience. I’m not intending to undertake a follow along demonstration, but to encourage you to paint what you like in the medium you want to use. So please bring your own favourite materials. I’ll be around to help, encourage, share tips and techniques, and generally get in the way. Numbers will be limited to 10 participants so there should be plenty of time for me to spend a while with each of you.
I will also have a range of watercolours, acrylics, brushes, knives and pastels if you want to try something new. We’ll have waterpots and boards so bring your own sketch book pencils or charcoal, paper (or other support) to paint on, paints and brushes. Enthusiasm and a sense of humour also welcomed, we might even have a go at finger painting!
Tea/coffee is included and served at mid morning and mid afternoon breaks.
Tearoom facilities are available for lunch or bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds.
