The award winners of BBC’s Great Orchestra Challenge
last September at the Royal Albert Hall make their debut in
Tavistock. The NDS is a symphony orchestra which draws
on local talent for its members in the North Devon area. The
orchestra is conducted by Emma Kent and aims to deliver high
standard concerts that are both accessible and affordable. For
their first visit to Tavistock, their programme will be:- Hartland
Point (the first performance of an overture written specially
for the occasion by Andrew Wilson, the Festival’s President)
followed by Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (piano solo by
Dominic Carter); after the interval, the orchestra will play Holst’s
The Planets – a very exciting evening for all ages and tastes.
7.30 pm – St Eustachius’s Church
Tickets: £12 (children – £6) from the Miller Town & Country
Office, or on the door.
