Led By Dreams is a new community interest company which has been set up within West Devon to help victims of domestic abuse. The organisation plans to educate everyone, from victims and their families, to people who might think a work colleague or friend is suffering but don’t know how to help. Led by Dreams would like to eventually set up a drop-in service where victims can access support.
A Led By Dreams spokesperson said: “Domestic violence affects one in every three women and, by this time next week, as many as ten women will have committed suicide to escape a relationship. As you can see the statistics are quite shocking and something needs to change. Domestic abuse has a ripple effect, tearing families apart. Victims also need to access many services ranging from police, mental health, GPs, hospitals, medication, housing, and much more. We are looking for support from local people and organisations in the form of donations.”
Led By Dreams hopes to enable victims to start their journey towards becoming survivors. Together we can all make a difference.
