Dartmoor Photography Break, with Juliette Mills
7th - 9th May 2019
Enjoy a two day break on Dartmoor, and develop your photography skills under the expert tuition of Devon photographer Juliette Mills.
This is a two day group photography adventure for anyone wishing to improve their photographic skills whilst enjoying a relaxing two day break on Dartmoor. Participants will work towards a slideshow to music of their best pictures on the final afternoon.
Tuition in the field will be personal, based on each participant’s level of ability but will include basic camera settings, composition, capturing energy and movement as well as landscapes, and making your pictures unique.
Arrival - Tuesday 7th May
Your room will be ready from 2pm. Relax and settle in, then join the group for a delicious three course dinner, with an introduction and slideshow by Juliette Mills.
Day One - Wednesday 8th May
Juliette will take you on a walk to Wistman’s Wood – an extraordinary, ancient, stunted oak forest. This will give you the chance to explore landscape, trees, and macro photography – and the wood is also a wonderful place to just sit still and soak up the special atmosphere. After a picnic lunch, you’ll head back to the hotel for a coffee break. In the afternoon there will be a visit by car to a nearby tor, with a chance to look for wild ponies en-route, photographing landscapes, with thought given to light and the essence of Dartmoor. Return in time to edit and get ready for drinks by the fire, and dinner with a group discussion and critique of the day’s work.
Day Two - Thursday 9th May
You will head out by car and explore a wonderful river location with Juliette. This will be your opportunity to photograph moving water, reflections and the beautiful wider river scenes. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river, and return to the hotel to edit your pictures and prepare for a final slideshow to music (accompanied by a traditional Devon Cream Tea). The day will finish at 5pm to give you time to drive home – or you might like to stay another night?
