The Friends of Tavistock Library – Gothic Style Gnome and Pixie Model Making Competition
Tavistock Library is celebrating Tavistock’s Gothic and Neo-Gothic style heritage in literature and architecture with a host of events starting on the 12th of October 2019.
Pixies are part of our local folklore and Anna Eliza Bray (1790- 1883) was an English historical novelist who lived in the Vicarage in Tavistock. She collected local myths and legends and her cousin, Christina Rossetti, wrote the world-famous poem ‘Goblin Market’.
All the garden (gnome-sized) pixies and gnomes will be displayed in Tavistock Library or the windows of Mainly Stationery, I Love Candy, Lambert’s Emporium, Tavistock Visitor Information Centre and Tavistock Library. Prize winners will be announced, (and presented), at the Go Gothic Market on the 19th of October in Tavistock’s Butcher’s Market.
There will be 5 prizes of book tokens for the children’s competition and 2 adult prizes.
Entry to the Competition is free.
