Introducing ‘The Printworks’ - the new name for Kingdon House
Our new name marks a new chapter in our development as a community building in the centre of Tavistock. With our new name we hope to become easier to find and with better facilities, once you find us. Just look for our newly refurbished Grade 2 listed building on the corner of Pym Street and North Street. Earlier this year the exterior of our building had major refurbishment thanks to grants from Greater Dartmoor Leaf, Tavistock Town Heritage Initiative, Tavistock Town Council, The Co-op and plenty of generous local fundraising. Over the summer we moved on with improvements to the interior and reorganisation of spaces available inside the building.
So, what goes on at The Printworks?
We hire rooms for community use at very reasonable rates, from one-off meetings, to regular and long-term bookings. The Printworks is the place to go for courses, groups, activities and events. Currently, we have a flourishing range of activities in arts, crafts, printing, yoga, musical theatre, dance, meditation, discussion, support, well-being and bridge with new groups starting up all the time. Check out our noticeboard on Pym Street. A new arrival at The Printworks is Tavistock Scrapstore which can be found on the lower ground floor (access from North street) – and they have exciting plans to provide materials and run courses throughout the week.
The best way to find out more about The Printworks is to visit us on our Celebration Day to be held on Saturday 2nd November from 10.00am until 4.00pm. There will be lots going on, showing the full range of activities at The Printworks. Or you can visit our new website at printworkstavistock.org.uk or email us at info@printworkstavistock.org.uk and our phone number is 01822 615259.
The Printworks is an independent community building run by Kingdon House Community Association, a not for profit charity organization.
Visit us on Saturday 2nd November. All welcome!
