Boringdon Hall announces a medieval banquet to celebrate the birthday of Sir Francis Drake
The banquet will take place on Friday 26th January 2018, and be held in the prestigious Great Hall at the five star Elizabethan Manor house hotel in Plympton.
The Great Hall will be transformed to traditional banquet style, and long tables will lay place to a delectable feast, prepared by award-winning Head Chef, Scott Paton.
Set to a backdrop of live jazz, a medieval inspired three-course meal will be served alongside Boringdon’s signature cocktail, the Sir Francis Drake Mojito. The classic cocktail was created by Sir Francis himself. It is said Sir Francis concocted a mixture of lime, sugar and rum when at sea, before arriving in Havana. The rum was aboard for medicinal purposes, and Sir Francis added the other ingredients to sweeten the taste.
Sir Francis Drake is no stranger to Boringdon Hall, in 1587, it is thought that Sir Francis Drake attended a great banquet at Boringdon Hall himself. The banquet, hosted by John Parker, Boringdon’s owner at the time, was to celebrate Sir Drake's victorious raid on the Spanish fleet in Cadiz Harbour.
Tickets for the banquet are £49.50 per person and can be booked by calling Boringdon Hall on 07152 344455 or online, where you can find more details:
