The Moorland Garden Hotel near Yelverton in Devon has this week (16 April) played host to its inaugural doggy friendship ceremony to coincide with National Pet Month.Dreamt up by the hotel’s events manager, Laura Braithwaite and Jo Macaskie of A Doggy Day Out, the event brought together local dog-friendly businesses and their canine companions to support, Veterans with Dogs. And while the eyes of the nation may be on a certain Royal wedding taking place next month, the hairy couple (George and Tilly) only had eyes for each other during the short service conducted by Emma Jane Glasspool from Best Day Ever Ceremonies.Following the service guests were invited to partake of afternoon tea. With doggy cupcakes provided by Dot's Teas and a more traditional spread for humans provided by the Moorland Garden Hotel’s award-winning kitchen team. Owners and pups were invited to step into the pet photo booth for a keepsake snap and take part in games including Temptation Alley and a 'Has your dog got talent' show.Pets looking to cement their friendship in a similar fashion can take advantage of the Dog Friendship Ceremony package being offered by Moorland Garden Hotel. The canine-compatible offering costs from £300 including use of the ceremony space, bow ties, Pawsecco and doggy ice cream for the hairy couple, Champagne Afternoon Tea for their two-legged guests, a member of staff to take photos and a framed photo and ink kit to capture paw prints (based on two dogs and four people).
