Dartmoor National Park Authority and the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project have partnered with Twool to create a limited edition Dartmoor Dog lead made with a blend of wool from sheep that graze on Dartmoor.
Wool Leads
The beautiful uplands of Dartmoor are maintained by hill farmers who farm a variety of cattle, sheep and ponies. The Scotch Blackface is the breed of sheep most often seen grazing on the hills of Dartmoor today. Historically the now rare-breed Whiteface Dartmoor was a common sight. The decline in the price of wool has left little option for farmers of many breeds as they face the challenges of finding a viable use for the wool and a route to market.
Inspired by moorland colours the Twool Dartmoor dog lead is a blend of Whiteface Dartmoor and Dartmoor Hill Farm Project Scotch Blackface wool. Each lead is made right here in the UK and hand finished with upcycled leather waste from British leather goods manufacturers.
The Dartmoor doggy lead also helps promote the Paws on Dartmoor campaign which encourages responsible dog ownership. Dog walkers are encouraged to enjoy the National Park and join the Paws on Dartmoor campaign promoting responsible dog walking on the moor.
